Wow! Such a big week for gadget releases. Not only did Verizon announce the Blackberry 8130 and the LG Voyager, but Microsoft is giving us a sneak peek at the new and improved Zune.
New features for the 80GB Zune include touch-sensitive navigation, 3.2″ screen, FM-tuner, and Wi-Fi syncing. In addition, there are upgrades to the Zune Marketplace (new videos, podcasts, over 1 million DRM-free MP3s) and a new community, Zune Social, which allows you to create a profile showing your favorite music and allows your friends to sample the tunes themselves.
The 80GB model is going for $249.99, with less expensive options in the flash-memory Zunes in 4GB and 8GB. They are available in a variety of colors, and you can guess my favorite. It looks pretty nice.

I was finally able to convince my sister to make the switch to GNU/Linux a few months back and I am pleased to say that she is still happily chugging along with it.
She is not computer savvy and was initially being worried that her pictures and other files would not be accessible under an operating system other than Microsoft Windows. I installed Ubuntu on her machine and showed her all of the basics. I was kind of surprised at how quickly she her fondness for the operating system grew.
