I decided to upgrade my copy of Firefox 3 Beta5 to the recent Release Candidate today and was greeted with something quite unexpected.
Instead of my browser window opening as it was supposed to do I was given a End-User Software License Agreement (EULA) screen which would not let me use Firefox until I agreed with the terms and conditions.
While Mozilla has had a EULA since Firefox 1.5 or so they have never brazenly shoved it into the end-user’s face until now. It immediately set me on edge because this behavior is indicative of proprietary software and not something you would expect to see when using something that is open source.

I had some laughs when I read this article about the top 5 ways to not be Linux evangelist. I agree that number 1 is just too much:
Do not sneak in to work early one morning, insert Linux live CDs into everyone’s desktop system, and hope that when they live boot they will be excited to see TUX. It is always a good idea to keep a few live-cds with you so that you can offer it to someone who may be interested. But “surprising” the office, including the senior VP, with the benefits of a KDE desktop is probably not going to help the cause. Although, from what I’ve heard, it can make your Monday morning at the office most interesting.
That is just so awkward! I mean, even if you think that others should use Linux, this is not the way to entice them because they will […]

For the record, gluing Swarovski crystals all over something does not make it ~*girly*~, it makes it TACKY.
Case in point, the Allure White Steel MicroATX Mid Tower Computer Case. Upon first glance, it’s actually quite good looking - its sleek and has pretty purple flowers painted all over it. Upon further inspection, however, you’ll notice the entire case also appears to have been Bejeweled. Couldn’t they have just let it be?!
Anyway, the case specs are as follows: Drive Bays: External 5.25″ x 2, 3.5″ x 2, Internal 3.5″ x 2, Front Ports: Standard USB2.0 x 2, IEEE 1394 A x 1, HD/AC’97, Power Supply: ATX 12V, PS II size, I/O Expansion Slots: PCI/AGP expansion slots x 4, Dimensions (HxWxD): 14.5″ x 7.5″ x 18.5″. It also features an aero dynamic, ergonomic design.
From what I can tell, it’s actually getting pretty good […]
